Description:Emergency Medical Services is a hands-on profession. There are many skills that the EMS provider must become proficient in to provide the best quality patient care. One of the challenges facing EMS providers in the field is using the skills they learn in training on an actual call where there are many distractions. Delmar’s Advanced Life Support Skills Video Series helps to bridge the gap from classroom to the street. Each tape provides a scenario in which a skill is performed; this scenario is shown in real time with all of the possible distractions, as well as interspersed with interviews with the EMTs involved in the scene. In this format the viewer can apply the knowledge of the skill to a commonly encountered call. Then each step in the skill is broken down into its components so that the viewer can learn the steps without the distractions.
Delmar’s Advanced Life Support Series is a helpful tool for instructors to use for the skills/demonstration portion of the course. The videos can also be used as a refresher for students preparing to take the National Registry exams. |
