Answers to Study Questions
1. C. The cognitive domain is one part of what is described as learning domains, which are based upon types of learning that people exhibit. The cognitive domain focuses on knowledge gained. Additional descriptors of this domain are comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
2. A. There should always be a goal and terminal objectives whenever teaching occurs. Terminal objectives are behavioral steps that need to be achieved in order to meet the goal. Enabling objectives are secondary behaviors that support an individual while going through the process.
3. B. A learner analysis is important because it reveals an individual’s characteristics, which contribute or become barriers to learning. Although there are often standard methodologies used in teaching, there is a greater opportunity for success when the teacher has insightful information. Understanding the learner’s needs and characteristics can lead to developing relevant and effective teaching plans.
